The ZSSC3008 from ZMD AG, Dresden, Germany, is a sensor signal conditioning IC for resistive bridge sensor systems that require second-order linearity correction. The device uses offset correction and gain programming to calibrate the bridge output signal and provides two analog and one digital output. Standard supply voltage is 2.7–5.5 V or up to 30 V with external JFET. Accuracy is 0.25% over the –25°C to 85°C range and 0.5% from –40°C to 125°C. Depending on the configuration, current consumption typically ranges form 1 mA down to 250 µA and response time is 1 ms (typ.). Features include EEPROM signature, bridge connection checks, bridge input-short and open-bridge detection, power loss detection, and output current limits for short-circuit protection. The IC is optimized for those applications with sensors that do not require temperature compensation because they have an intrinsically low temperature coefficient.
