Western Digital has expanded its WD Blue solid-sate drive ((SSD) offerings with an NVMe model. The WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD delivers three times the performance of its SATA counterpart while maintaining the reliability of the WD Blue product line.
Leveraging the scalable in-house SSD architecture of the WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD, the WD Blue SN500 NVMe SSD is also built on the company’s own 3D NAND technology, firmware and controller, and delivers sequential read and write speeds up to 1,700MB/s and 1,450MB/s respectively for the 500-GB model with power consumption as low as 2.7W.
The WD Blue SN500NVMe SSD will be available in 250-GB and 500-GB capacities in a single-sided M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x2 form factor. Price is $54.99 for 250 GB (model number: WDS250G1B0C) and $77.99 for 500 GB (model number: WDS500G1B0C). For more information, checkout Western Digital’s paper on SSDs and visit Western Digital.
