ESC Boston 2019: Acquisitions & Embedded Products Aplenty

You never know if an acquisition will work out because it combines two, sometimes diverse, entities. Post acquisition, it is interesting to see the strategy develop and watch the steps the combined entities make. At Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Boston, there were two examples: Perforce & RogueWave and IAR & Secure Thingz.

In the case of Perforce & RogueWave , the acquisition broadened both companies offerings for static code analysis. They now have 3,000 customers in 57 companies and their combined products keep developers and development teams with updated code by continuously delivering secure, reliable and conformant code.

The IAR & SecureThingz  acquisition brings together founders Stefan Skarin’s and Haydn Povey’s security tools vision for using encryption to protect IP code in a new product offering called Embedded Trust. They are capitalizing on the market trend that security is the top concern for companies worldwide.

Embedded Technologies Expo & Conference

The inaugural event will take place June 25-27 in San Jose, CA!

Embedded Technologies Expo & Conference (ETC), in the largest embedded and IoT market in North America, is the ONLY event focused on what is most important to designers and implementers – education and training. Attendees will experience over 100 hours of unparalleled education and training covering embedded systems, IoT, connectivity, edge computing, AI, machine learning, and more. Co-located with Sensors Expo & Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to see hundreds of leading exhibitors and network with thousands of industry peers and innovators.

The IAR & SecureThingz merging is an example of combining two companies to create an improved, enhance new product. In parallel, the Perforce & RogueWave pairing offers line extension to provide one-stop shopping for a wider customer base.

Also at ESC, SEGGER Microcontroller highlighted the J-Trace streaming trace probe enabling live code profiling and live code coverage and Teledyne Lecroy demonstrated their latest WavePro Oscilloscopes that offer an 8-GHZ range and 12-bit resolution to meet specic customer requirements. The next embedded-technologies show on the horizon is the Embedded Technologies Expo & Conference at the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, CA, June 25 to 27, 2019.
