The CC430 platform from Texas Instruments (TI) Inc., Dallas, TX, blends the company's MSP430F5xx MCU with a low-power RF transceiver that draws a low enough current to enable battery-operated wireless networking applications that can operate, without servicing, for ten years or longer. The CC430 devices are monolithic and have high integration to allow for a 50% reduction in package and PCB space compared to 2-chip solutions. The MSP430 MCU peripheral set, available for CC430-based devices, includes a 16-bit ADC, low power comparators, an AES accelerator, and an onchip LCD controller. A development kit is available.
