The 810 handheld vibration tester from Fluke Corp., Everett, WA, is designed to enable maintenance teams to collect data, diagnose, and solve mechanical problems. Supplied with software, a triaxial TEDS accelerometer, and a laser tachometer, the device is programmed to diagnose unbalance, looseness, misalignment, and bearing failures in equipment including motors, fans, blowers, belts, gearboxes, compressors, pumps, closed coupled machines, and spindles. When a fault is detected the monitor identifies the problem and rates its severity on a 4-level scale. It also recommends repairs. The software lets you create machine setups at a PC for transfer to the tester, generate diagnostic reports, view spectra, and import and store images.
