Software Helps First Responders Locate Callers In Three Dimensions

Polaris Wireless offers what it calls the industry’s only true software-based hybrid location solution, which integrates available sensor inputs from devices and wireless networks. No additional hardware is required in the wireless carrier networks and no additional firmware is needed in wireless devices, enabling the solution to be rapidly deployable nationwide.

The Polaris Wireless solution was tested in three cities, 48 buildings, 312 test locations, and 55,592 test calls. It achieved a vertical accuracy of 4.8 meters at the 80th percentile, with a minimal one-time compensation of the barometric sensor outside of the test cities. Using actual test call data to emulate active sensor compensation, the Polaris Wireless solution improved to 2.8-meter accuracy at the 80th percentile, which allegedly exceeds the generally-accepted definition of floor level of under 3 meters.

SENSORS EXPO & CONFERENCE

Sensors 2019 Hits Silicon Valley June 25-27!

Join 7,000+ engineers this June in San Jose at the sensor industry’s biggest event! With 65+ Technical Sessions, 100+ Leading Speakers, 10 new and updated tracks, and 300+ Interactive Exhibits, there’s more opportunity than ever to connect with this booming industry and the technologies driving it. See thousands of the newest technologies in action, learn about the latest applications, and develop invaluable partnerships at the only event dedicated to sensors, connectivity, and systems.

In addition to demonstrating floor level vertical location, PolarisWireless achieved 25.8 meters of horizontal indoor accuracy at the 80th percentile, an improvement of 38% from CTIA’s Test Bed Stage 2 indoor testing for emerging technologies conducted in 2016. By participating in multiple rounds of CTIA independent testing, Polaris Wireless continues to independently verify its innovations and performance improvements around software-based high accuracy location.
