When safety light curtains are guarding a danger zone where material must be moved automatically into or out of the zone, a muting technique is typically used. This is accomplished with muting sensors that detect transport material and distinguishes the difference between the material and personnel. The light curtains use a control signal provided by a PLC and the interruption of the protective field itself for bridging to the material transport.
