The new Paralan SD100 SCSI Extender Kits are composed of two Paralan SD10D SCSI bus converters and three connector cables. One of the cables is used to connect the ABB IMMPI01 multifunction interface boards to the Paralan SCSI converters while one extra-long SCSI cable is used to connect between the converters. This special Paralan communication cable can provide up to 160-foot connection. The third cable is used to connect the HBA to a converter.
"We developed this solution for utilities and users of the ABB Symphony Harmony industrial control solution who either needed to modernize the computer controls and/or wanted to locate the computer controls much further away from the system," says Marc Brooks, CEO of Paralan. "By using the Paralan SD100 SCSI Extender Kit instead of replacing the interfaces and associated peripherals, end users can save tens of thousands of dollars."
Over the last several years, ABB has referred many of their legacy Symphony users to Paralan. According to Mr. Brooks, "In our discussions with ABB, they have informed us that our solutions have been tested and provide the most cost effective solution for those industrial users who need to move their interface computers farther away from the ABB control hardware."
ABB pioneered HVDC transmission technology more than 50 years ago and has extensive experience in both new installations and refurbishments. ABB remains the world leader in this highly efficient technology, with over 6000 HVDC projects around the world, providing a total transmission capacity of more than 60,000 MW.
ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 124,000 people.
Before the development of SCSI Bus Expanders, SCSI cable length was restricted to short distances. To address this limitation, Paralan Corp. invented and manufactured the world's first fiber optic SCSI Bus Extender compatible with any manufacturer's SCSI host adapters and SCSI peripherals.
As pioneers in developing and manufacturing this technology, Paralan is the most trusted name in SCSI Bus Enhancement. The company's high-quality, reliable product lines include iSCSI bridges, SCSI extenders, SCSI converters, SCSI enhanced drives and Narrow SCSI replacement drives, SCSI switches, premium SCSI quiet cables, SCSI cable testers, and Ultra320 host bus adapters.
Founded in 1988, San Diego-based Paralan designs and manufactures both off-the-shelf and custom products for industry leaders like IBM, Siemens, Alcatel, Xerox, and Northrop Grumman. Paralan's products are embedded in computer installations worldwide, making SCSI work.
