Mixer Raises Bandwidth, Lowers Power

Analog Devices’ LTC5562 active double-balanced mixer is capable of 50Ω matching over a frequency range of 30 MHz to 7 GHz. With a conversion gain of 2 dB, the mixer is useable in either frequency up- or down-conversion applications. It runs on a single 3.3V supply rail, drawing 40 mA nominal operating current. If lower power consumption is needed, the mixer can be configured to operate as low as 15mA, supporting a wide range of portable and transportable RF applications. Moreover, the mixer offers exceptional dynamic range performance: +20dBm OIP3 at 3.6GHz frequency.

The LTC5562 is available in a 10-lead, 2 mm x 2 mm plastic QFN package, rated for operation from –40°C to +105°C case temperature. An enable pin allows an external controller to shut down the mixer for extra power savings. When disabled, the device typically draws 10 μA of supply current. Samples and production quantities are available immediately. Pricing starts at $4.75 each/1,000. If this just whet your appetite for knowledge, an LTC5562 datasheet is available for your figurative dinning pleasure. For more details, visit Analog Devices.
