LVIT Linear Sensors Suit Up For Subsea Missions

The SS-7 series Linear Variable Inductive Transducers (LVITs) are designed for subsea environments and the demands of Oil and Gas Exploration. They embed into a hydraulic cylinder and employ the gun-drilled piston rod as a target, sensing its position with-out the need for a magnet. The SS-7 series can be submerged to a depth of 12,000 ft. or installed in a pressure balanced oil filled chamber to provide position feedback on Blow Out preventers, ROVs and relief valves. Features include a 316 stainless steel, 25-mm diameter housing, measurement ranges from 1 in. to 24 in. (25 mm to 600 mm), operation to 5,200 psi or 12,000 ft. (3,000m) depth, and dc voltage or current analog outputs. A datasheet is available at http://alliancesensors.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/SS-7_Datasheet_v3.0.pdf
