The Model LM 70DGX from FilterSense, Beverly, MA, detects and monitors flowing, fine liquid droplets in pipes, ducts, stacks, and small tubing. The sensor uses a combination of charge induction and protected-probe technologies; as liquid droplets flow near and around the probe, a tiny current is induced, which is then processed by a DSP into an absolute output relative to the amount of flowing mist. Features include remote electronics, a passive sensor, and a high-accuracy signal amplifier and available sensor outputs are relay, 4–20 mA, Modbus, and Ethernet. Standard resolution is 0.5 pA (for range of 0–5000 pA) and probe lengths are from 3–72 in. Applications include carryover detection with mist eliminators, process control for gas processing, and emissions monitoring for scrubbers.
