The Pico384E from ULIS, Veurey-Voroize, France, is a 17 µm pixel size thermal sensor that has an I2C interface for compatibility with large-scale production processes used in cameras that operate in the visible range. The uncooled IR sensor is suited for use in high-end military and professional applications that require high thermal sensitivity. Other features include power consumption of <60 mW (analog output, 50 Hz frame rate), operation up to 400 kHz, a noise-equivalent temperature difference of 40 mK, a thermal time constant <10 ms, and a factor of merit score in the range of 400 mK.ms. Applications include long-range surveillance, thermal weapon sights, ground vehicle situational awareness, handheld goggles, and UAVs.
