Fingerprints Don't Lie

And that means they're an ideal way to keep troublemakers out of vulnerable IT systems loaded with sensitive information. If you're using SAP R/3 4.x or mySAP Business Suite enterprise resource planning software, bioLock from realtime North America Inc. will protect your systems by using biometric technology based on the uniqueness of the fingerprint to identify users, control their access, and log their activities within your system.

Practically a member of the SAP family, bioLock was developed by realtime's German parent company, realtime AG, which was founded in 1986 by former SAP employees. They've made sure that their software installs easily and runs without interfering with SAP.

But it does more than that: It enables an enterprise to implement a single sign-on to multiple systems. After entering a legitimate ID, users just type or click the system they want to access and then put a finger on the keyboard fingerprint sensor. If—and only if—their fingerprints are on file for that system, they're in.

SENSORS EXPO & CONFERENCE

Sensors 2019 Hits Silicon Valley June 25-27!

Join 7,000+ engineers this June in San Jose at the sensor industry’s biggest event! With 65+ Technical Sessions, 100+ Leading Speakers, 10 new and updated tracks, and 300+ Interactive Exhibits, there’s more opportunity than ever to connect with this booming industry and the technologies driving it. See thousands of the newest technologies in action, learn about the latest applications, and develop invaluable partnerships at the only event dedicated to sensors, connectivity, and systems.

Thomas Neudenberger, realtime North America's CEO, suggests that bioLock will make passwords a thing of the past. "Passwords are highly insecure, extremely inconvenient, and expensive to administer," he says. "Our mission is to close this generally accepted gap with modern, innovative technology."

In a post 9/11 world troubled by terrorists, identity theft, hacking by disgruntled employees, and a serious lot of regulation and litigation, that seems like a pretty good idea.
