Freescale Semiconductor

Freescale Semiconductor, Austin, TX, offers an inertial satellite sensor family and mixed signal analog IC for advanced airbag systems that use the emerging Peripheral Sensor Interface 5 (PSI5) protocol as well as an ECU inertial sensor family. The MEMS-based MMA5xxxW is a PSI5 X- or Z-axis satellite inertial sensor in a QFN package with ±60 g to ±480 g F.S. range and a selectable low-pass filter. The MC33789 airbag system basis chip (SBC) can be used to detect seat belt switch input states and communicate with remote crash sensors via its 4 satellite sensor PSI5 master interfaces. The MEMS-based dual-axis MMA68xxQ digital inertial sensor family is designed as a main crash sensor or as a safing sensor in airbag applications and features a ±20 g to ±120 g F.S. range.
