8M CMOS Image Sensor Eyes Smartphone And Tablet Markets

Toshiba’s T4K35 a 1.12-µm, 8-megapixel BSI CMOS image sensor with color noise reduction (CNR) targets smartphone, tablet, and other portable designs. The device integrates a CNR circuit and achieves a signal-to-noise ratio equal to the company's equivalent products fabricated on a 1.4-µm pixel process.

The T4K35 incorporates a high dynamic range (HDR) function that, according to Toshiba, faithfully reproduces dark and bright areas in high contrast images. Other features include a video frame rate of 30 fps at full resolution, 1.12-µm pixel size. The production shipments of T4K35 are set to start on November 15.
