ZigBee Alliance To Hold Developers' Conference at Sensors Expo

May 11, 2006

Annual meeting hosts hands-on hardware and software product development sessions for wireless sensor and control networks technology.

SAN RAMON, Calif. /BUSINESS WIRE/ -- The ZigBee Alliance, a global ecosystem of companies creating wireless solutions for use in home, commercial, and industrial applications, will be hosting its second annual Developers' Conference in Rosemont, Ill., at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center on June 5-7, 2006 in conjunction with Sensors Expo & Conference.

The conference is a three-day event for hardware and software developers interested in incorporating ZigBee wireless sensor and control networks technology into new products. The ZigBee global standard addresses control and automation needs for the home, commercial, and industrial markets. Participants will have the unique opportunity to compare ZigBee compliant platforms, test transceivers, microcontrollers, network stacks, and developer tools and gain knowledge from the engineers responsible for the design of ZigBee technology. The developers' conference will jump-start or complement your ZigBee product development and market entry.

"The first event was such a success that more developers said they wanted a glimpse into the ZigBee ecosystem of companies who are working to bring the world's only global technology to market," said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance. "Industry professionals will be able to see first-hand the best wireless control and sensing technology available today and learn how ZigBee can be incorporated into products for this nascent, yet promising market."

At the conference, speakers from a wide range of technology and product manufacturers in the ZigBee Alliance—including Agilent Technologies, Atalum, Cirronet, Crossbow, Daintree, Ember, Freescale Semiconductor, Frontline Test Equipment, Integration, Motorola, Philips, Silicon Laboratories, Software Technologies Group, Texas Instruments, and ZMD—will present on the state of ZigBee wireless sensor and control networks technology.

"Last year's ZigBee Developers' Conference was a huge success, with topics ranging from antenna design to ZigBee routing, but unfortunately, because we were oversold, we had to turn away a lot of people," said Tim Gillman, vice president of San Juan Software and chair of the ZigBee Developers Conference Task Group. "This year ZigBee has a bigger venue and twice as many hands-on sessions."

Participants of the conference will receive a CD with all conference materials as well as the ZigBee specification, one of the most downloaded specifications in recent history. For registration and conference details, please click here.

The ZigBee Alliance is an association of companies working together to enable reliable, cost-effective, low-power, wirelessly networked, monitoring and control products based on an open global standard. The ZigBee Alliance membership comprises technology providers and original equipment manufacturers worldwide. Membership is open to all.
