RM Ingénierie Chooses Motion Pod for Human Motion System

Movea and RM Ingénierie offer 'motion capture' solution for physiotherapists and healthcare professionals.


LONDON, U.K. /PRNewswire/ -- Movea, experts in motion capture technology, have created the MotionPod, a revolutionary microsensor device for healthcare and sports, which is able to record, transcribe and analyze human motion.

This unique technology is the driving force behind their first partnership with RM Ingénierie, a subsidiary of Cegedim who chose Motion Pod for use in their BioVal solution, which is a body movement control and measurement module for medical professionals.

MotionPod is the result of the most advanced motion capture technology developed by Movea SA, a pioneer in motion capture technology. Presented at the MEDICA Trade Fair from 19–22 November 2008 in Dusseldorf, Germany, this innovative mini-sensor has already won over the medical sector and achieved a primary objective with the signing of its first OEM partnership with RM Ingénierie, a subsidiary of Cegedim specializing in medical and paramedical software solutions.

Advanced Rehabilitation Technology
In a close partnership with Movea SA, RM Ingénierie has improved BioVal, a high-tech module that allows physiotherapists to create dated joint mobility reports and to compare them over time, to generate 3D views of the spinal column in 3D as well as to have their patients perform numerous computer-directed rehabilitation exercises that are controlled by motion of the body.

MotionPod, the core of this innovative solution, allows for the transcription and precise analysis of data from the human body.

Athletes to Benefit
MotionPod is intended not only to optimize the rehabilitation of patients from a medical point of view, but also, for example, to measure an athlete's performance, allowing the athlete to better target weaknesses and improve technique.

Extremely simple to use, MotionPod is housed in an ultra-light (14 grams) watch-sized case, and it is equipped with sensors that can be placed anywhere on the body.

With the MotionPod, you can:

  • Calculate with precision position in space. This micro-system is equipped with a magnetometer, an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

     

  • Record motion in real-time, at 30 measurements per second.

     

  • Transmit real-time data to a computer via a USB receiver.
