Michael P. DeLisio Earns Outstanding Young Engineer Award

IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society recognizes Wavestream's co-founder and CTO for his contributions to the development and commercialization of microwave and millimeter-wave spatial power combining techniques.


SAN DIMAS, CA (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Wavestream Corp., a manufacturer of compact, highly efficient solid-state power amplifiers, announced that Michael P. DeLisio, Wavestream's co-founder and chief technology officer, has been recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) with a 2008 Outstanding Young Engineer Award.

The award was presented to DeLisio at the annual International Microwave Symposium on June 18, 2008 in Atlanta. The annual award recognizes MTT-S members under the age of 39, who have distinguished themselves through technical achievements, service to the MTT-S, or a combination of both. DeLisio was recognized for his contributions to the development and commercialization of microwave and millimeter-wave spatial power combining techniques as well as service to the MTT Society.

DeLisio has served as Wavestream's chief technology officer since its inception in 2001. DeLisio is an internationally recognized expert on spatial power combining. He demonstrated the first watt-level output from a Grid Amplifier, and is an originator of the modeling technique used in the design of Grid Amplifiers. DeLisio holds three patents and has published more than 50 papers in industry-respected journals and conferences, including the International Microwave Symposium at which he received the Outstanding Young Engineer Award. DeLisio earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, as well as a master's in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), taught engineering at the University of Hawaii, and was a visiting associate at Caltech before co-founding Wavestream.

The MTT-S is one of nearly 50 societies and councils that make up the IEEE. MTT-S promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz technologies.
