GlobalSpec Introduces Enhanced Part Number Search

May 16, 2007

The specialized engineering/technical search engine's new functionality now allows you to search by part number.

Troy, NY (Business Wire) -- GlobalSpec, the leading specialized search engine, information resource and e-publishing company for the engineering, industrial and technical communities, today announced the release of PartFinder, a part number search product designed to meet the specific needs of manufacturing, industrial, technical and engineering professionals – and distributors interested in reaching this targeted audience.

PartFinder complements SpecSearch, GlobalSpec's search technology offering the ability to search catalogs by specification, and satisfies the other major use case for finding parts. It allows users who are searching for a specific part for uses such as re-ordering parts, placing new orders, ordering replacement parts, or seeking a second source for parts to easily find the items they need. Users can search by a number of different criteria, including part number, manufacturer name, distributor name, or description. Users have access to PartFinder at no cost.

"It's evident that engineering, technical and industrial professionals are relying on the Internet to find the right parts needed in their day-to-day work activities," said GlobalSpec Senior Vice President of Marketing Guy Maser. "Results of our recent Distributor Buying Trends survey show that 87% of respondents purchase parts online, and 69% search for parts by number at least once a month. PartFinder offers these professionals a fast and easy way to find parts, while allowing distributors to benefit by gaining new customers and market share."

PartFinder offers distributors a way to maximize the visibility of their products and business among an audience of engineering, technical and industrial professionals looking for specific parts. Product results can link directly to any page on a distributor's Web site, including a shopping cart, inventory pages, datasheets, CAD files or a distributor's contact information page on GlobalSpec. Additionally, distributors can easily update their presence on PartFinder to reflect current inventory, ensuring that they are only generating results for parts they have in-stock.
