G2 Microsystems Innovates With Cadence

Common power format-based integrated flow enables G2 Microsystems to deliver ultra low-power Wi-Fi SoC for mobile tracking.


SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire -) - Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic-design innovation, announced that G2 Microsystems has developed innovative wireless mobile tracking devices using the Cadence Low-Power Solution. This complete, integrated and easy-to-use flow, based on the Si2 standard Common Power Format (CPF), enabled G2 Microsystems to achieve faster time-to-market and ultra low-power objectives.

G2 Microsystems, headquartered in Campbell, CA, designs and manufactures ultra-low-power, application-specific Wi-Fi solutions for real-time location tracking, wireless sensing, mobile devices and asset tracking tags. The company leverages its low-power Wi-Fi expertise and the full implementation of the Cadence Low-Power Solution to bring its products to market.

G2 achieved this time-to-market success after consolidating its design activities onto the Cadence Logic Design Team and Digital Implementation Solutions, based on the Cadence Incisive functional verification and Encounter digital IC design platforms, all of which are part of the Cadence Low-Power Solution. Using this integrated environment, G2 engineers were able to meet the stringent power requirements for their latest design while also ensuring product quality through very high test coverage.

G2 Microsystems' complete Wi-Fi SoC goes beyond today's basic radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to offer intelligent tracking and sensor capabilities that leverage IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) networks. Using multiple location technologies, a small form factor and ultra-low power consumption, the G2 SoC can be integrated into Wi-Fi asset tags that lower cost of ownership for industries such as consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, chemical manufacturing, and more.
