Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Augusta Systems

March 25, 2008

Presents the company with its 2008 Global Sensors Emerging Company of The Year Award to recognize Augusta Systems' technology achievements in the sensor and networking industries.

PALO ALTO, CA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Based on its analysis of the sensors market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Augusta Systems, Inc. with the 2008 Global Sensors Emerging Company of The Year Award for developing solutions to overcome one of the biggest challenges facing the industry - that of effective utilization of data from different sources, including sensors, actuators, RFID systems, imagery devices and other edge assets.

"Augusta Systems' products and solutions meet the requirement for advanced and efficient processing and correlation of data from sensors and other edge assets that usually exist beyond the reach of the enterprise network," says Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Prashanth Venkatesh. "The company's efforts mean that there is now an inexpensive way for enterprises to overcome integration hurdles in the installation of a network with many different types of sensors and devices."

The company offers three core products - SensorBridge, EdgeFrontier and SensorPort.

SensorBridge is an award-winning suite of Microsoft Visual Studio software components for building and managing intelligent networks, systems, and applications within an integrated development environment. The core feature of this product is the easy consolidation of data from various types of edge assets. Its advantage is that it eliminates the costly process of writing customized code for each application or new asset that is added to the network.

EdgeFrontier is powerful, easily configurable middleware for building and managing intelligent networks, systems and applications. It eliminates the need for separate middleware applications to handle each device in a network - a feature that saves enterprises both time needed for software development and money.

SensorPort too can be used to integrate data from different edge assets lying outside of the network. Its ability to improve the reliability and the ease of network management by enabling real-time monitoring and control of sensors and devices on a distributed basis is the greatest advantage this appliance offers.

The flexibility of the company's products are set to aid their adoption across a wide variety of applications. Augusta Systems' products have been used for robust and diverse applications ranging from military battlefield reconnaissance to large-scale public event security to electricity distribution system monitoring and automation.

"Factors such as the uniqueness of these solutions and the company's willingness to work with other companies will help open more applications where better data management is required," notes Venkatesh.

In recognition of the company's commendable achievements, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present Augusta Systems Inc. with its 2008 Emerging Company of the Year Award in the sensors industry.

"We are honored to receive this Frost & Sullivan Award that lauds our efforts to provide enterprises with key platform technologies for building and managing intelligent enterprise networks," says Augusta Systems President and COO, Patrick Esposito. "With the rapid growth in the use of sensors and other edge assets, there will be an increased need among enterprises for sensor and device-agnostic technologies that can easily and intelligently advance convergence of this critical data. With this Award, Frost & Sullivan has recognized that our technologies will play a leading role in the future of edge asset deployments and enterprise networking."

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company that has emerged as a significant participant within its industry. The award recognizes outstanding management, superior market growth, exceptional customer service and the ability to combine technology and successful strategic initiatives.

Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
