The wireless communications provider will develop a custom module that will be integrated into the DENSO automotive telematic system.

Issy-les-Moulineaux, France - Wavecom SA, a leader in wireless communications solutions for automotive and industrial (machine-to-machine) applications, announced that it has completed the pre-production phase of a joint development project for automotive telematics based on Wavecom's wireless technology.

Commenting on the joint development activity, Didier Dutronc, President, Wavecom Asia-Pacific said, "In 2006, Wavecom signed a Joint Agreement for a custom module design to be integrated in to the DENSO telematic system. We are extremely honored that Wavecom has been selected by DENSO, a recognized world leader in automotive electronics, to explore the telematics design and development. This design will be integrated in the telematic system and will be in production starting from 2009".

The current product will be implemented to support a new in-car convenience telematics program in North America. The program, including SafetyConnect, will appear in the market from late summer 2009.
