AeroAstro Awarded $1.6 Million Contract

September 25, 2007

Radyne Corp.'s AeroAstro business unit awarded asset tracking equipment and infrastructure contract from Globalstar; company's SENS service will expand Latin America and Asia.

PHOENIX, AZ (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Radyne Corporation (Nasdaq:RADN) announced today its AeroAstro business unit was awarded a $1.6 million contract from Globalstar, Inc. for asset tracking satellite downlink decoder racks, spares kits, and additional software upgrades for existing equipment deployed at Globalstar's ground gateways.

The equipment, known as SENS (Sensor Enabled Notification System) Appliques, will be used to expand the geographic coverage of the SENS / Globalstar Simplex Data Service in Latin America and Asia. Software upgrades will increase system capacity and geographic reach in support of rising demand for satellite-based tracking and telemetry services.

"The infrastructure equipment will be installed at Globalstar ground stations in early 2008, enabling Globalstar Inc. to offer service to new markets in Latin America and Asia, where the demand for tracking and data telemetry is high," said Myron Wagner, Radyne CEO. "We are gratified with the confidence Globalstar has in AeroAstro's technology to enable seamless tracking and logistics capability worldwide utilizing very low-cost telemetry devices."

The SENS Applique, an AeroAstro proprietary digital signal processing infrastructure component installed at key Globalstar ground stations, receives and decodes asset tracking and monitoring data from field transmitters via the Globalstar Low Earth Orbit satellite network. The received information is processed and distributed to users through the internet.
