Momentive Specialty Chemicals Exhibits Automobile Composite Part For Mass Production

March 10, 2014

Momentive delivers on its promise at the JEC

COLUMBUS, OH – The next step in helping automobile manufacturers mass produce composite components was taken by Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. (“Momentive Specialty Chemicals” or the “Company”) and is being featured at the JEC Show in Paris. The step, a partnership between the Company and the Technical Center for the Mechanical Industry (CETIM) in France, has produced a new automotive crash-box concept that reduces vehicle weight, provides the same or better energy absorption, and can be mass produced at a competitive price.

“At last year’s JEC show, we introduced the two-minute cure technology featuring our EPIKOTE™ 05475 / EPIKURE™ 05500 curing agent, and Heloxy additive 112. We now have taken the next step to develop a solution for auto OEMs by partnering with CETIM to deliver a cost competitive composite crash-box concept that can meet a 1,000 parts per day production rate,” said Jean Philippe Sauvaget, European Market Development Manager for Momentive Specialty Chemicals.

Visitors to the JEC show in Paris, March 11 – 13 can visit with Momentive Specialty Chemicals representatives in Hall 7.3 Pavilion, Booth M18 to learn more about the technology. A crash box sample will also be available at the booth.
