Canon U.S.A. Premieres Wireless Digital Radiography

The system will be presented at the 2010 American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) Meeting and Exposition.


WASHINGTON D.C. --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- At the 2010 American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) Meeting and Exposition, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging technology, will present the CXDI-70C wireless digital radiography system at the Gaylord National Convention Center, August 23–26 (booth #901). Receiving 510(k) clearance from U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 1, the CXDI-70C Wireless DR System is Canon's first wireless detector, offering more portability to medical practitioners. More than 1,000 medical professionals will have the advantage to view the CXDI-70C wireless digital radiography system along with Canon's other impressive healthcare equipment.

The CXDI-70C Wireless Digital Radiography (DR) System
Weighing 7.5 pounds, the CXDI-70C Wireless Digital Radiography System, as Canon's first wireless DR system, features a versatile 14 x 17-inch image area, the same dimensions as an ISO 4090-compliant film cassette and cable-free image transfer, providing medical practitioners with greater device portability and extraordinary image quality. Building upon the success of the Canon CXDI-55G/55C DR systems, the CXDI-70C Wireless DR System helps deliver fast, reliable high-resolution images. The CXDI-70C Wireless DR System also incorporates a new Canon-developed glass substrate with a pixel pitch of 125 microns. Despite realizing a higher resolution as compared with its current 160-micron pixel pitch DR systems, the new model delivers an increased level of sensitivity. In addition, the unit features a Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator, which delivers high-quality images while reducing the X-ray exposure to the patient. Without the use of a sensor cable, the newly developed Canon CXDI-70C Wireless DR System also enables handling similar to current film cassette X-ray systems, resulting in effortless usability and portability. With the development of an easy-to-use, portable DR system, medical practitioners are able to save a significant amount of time during equipment setup versus older machines and spend more time providing quality patient care. The CXDI-70C Wireless DR System is an ideal solution for all of radiography systems, including mobile systems.

Canon CXDI-50RF Dynamic/Static Digital Radiography System
Capable of viewing dynamic images and capturing static X-ray images, the Canon CXDI-50RF Dynamic/Static Digital Radiography System is the world's first portable dynamic and static sensor panel. Equipped with a 14 x 17-inch large imaging area, the CXDI-50RF is able to accommodate standard static X-ray image capture of the chest area and extremities. It can also enable up to 30 frames per second (fps) in fluoroscopy mode, which radiologists can use to observe dynamics of organs, such as those used in digestion. Static imaging up to 15 fps is also available. In fluoroscopy mode, the sensor unit can be used in a docking station, similar to a cassette tray, which is equipped with an active air cooling system. The CXDI-50RF Dynamic/Static Digital Radiography System can help facilities upgrade their capabilities easily, increase productivity and contribute to a significant cost savings on equipment purchases.

Canon CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C Digital Radiography System
At just 0.6 inches thick, the Canon CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C flat panel detectors are the thinnest flat panel detectors Canon has offered to date. Offering an effective imaging area of 14 x 17 inches, both models accommodate a wide variety of locations including skull, spine, chest, abdomen, and extremity examination. Weighing just 7.5 pounds each, the Canon CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C flat panel detectors are light enough for use in trauma centers and Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and their simple-to-grip handle design allows both the patient and X-ray technician to comfortably hold them in place during image capture. Both Canon flat panel detectors also feature a detachable sensor cable for time effective transport and simple installation. X-ray images can be confirmed on an optional preview monitor virtually immediately after exposure. If another exposure is required, the detector will be ready in seconds due to a fast refresh cycle. Both CXDI-55G and CXDI-55C flat panel detectors offer extensive workflow capabilities and seamless data transfer to any DICOM2 device, PACS or RIS for efficient data management, printing, archiving and remote viewing of images. Such workflow efficiency can mean less wait-time for patients as well as higher patient throughput and less of a burden on staff.

Canon CXDI-60C Multipurpose Portable Digital Radiography System
The Canon CXDI-60C Multipurpose Portable Digital Radiography System advanced LANMIT detector technology produces high-quality diagnostic images with minimal X-ray exposure to patients, making it an ideal device for pediatric and orthopedic applications. Due to the Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator, the crystals in the CXDI-60C DR System allows optimal light channeling properties for effective X-ray absorption and high signal-to-noise performance, helping the CXDI-60C flat panel detector give off minimal X-ray exposure. Weighing only 5.5 pounds and offering an effective imaging area of 9 x 11 inches, the ultra-compact CXDI-60C flat panel detector comes equipped with a smooth carrying handle that enables easy and simple handling for technicians and even patients, if necessary. Like the CXDI-55C and CXDI-55G flat panel detectors, a detachable sensor cable allows for simple room-to-room installation from multiple locations such as the patient's bedside or wheelchair, trauma centers or ICU (with an optional power box and PC) and fits right into most neo-natal incubator trays. The CXDI-60C flat panel detector also offers extensive workflow capabilities, and seamless data transfer to any DICOM device, PACS or RIS for efficient data management, printing, archiving and remote viewing of images.

Canon CXDI-40G COMPACT Digital Radiography System
The CXDI-40G COMPACT Digital Radiography System is a 17 x 17-inch (43 x 43 cm) digital radiography detector that provides outstanding-quality diagnostic image previews mere seconds after exposure. The system is equipped with a large image sensor and the high-quality capabilities of the CXDI-40EG Digital Radiography System, but in minimal housing. This sleek and compact Digital Radiography System allows for easy upgrades to existing radiography equipment, fits easily into most universal Bucky systems and can be retrofitted into a range of radiography devices such as upright stands and RF tables. With its multiple applications, the system contributes to effective patient care by capturing high-resolution radiological images in a timely manner to meet general radiographic needs.
