The FASTCAM MH-4 miniature digital video imaging system from Photron Inc., San Diego, CA, lets you use from 1–4 detachable camera heads. Each camera head is 35 by 35 by 35 mm and weighs <100 g. The system features excellent light sensitivity with full 512 by 512 pixel resolution at up to 2000 frames/s (up to 10,000 fps at reduced resolution) and uses an 8-bit monochrome and 24-bit color CMOS sensor. Applications include recording and motion analysis of critical events during high-impact tests, and high-speed imaging that requires camera positioning within confined areas and on low-mass mounting surfaces, such as pedal and footwell areas, steering columns, and safety-belt mountings.
