Linear Position Encoders from Balluff

Linear Position Encoders from Balluff

September 14, 2006
BML linear position encoders from Balluff Inc., Florence, KY, directly measure a load's linear position regardless of actuator backlash or mechanical wear. The sensing head floats above a precision-encoded magnetic band that provides an incremental position reference. This provides up to 24 m of noncontact position tracking up to 10 m/s. Of the two models, the S1A delivers 1 µm max. resolution and ±10 µm max. system accuracy and the S1B provides 5 µm max. resolution and ±50 µm max. system accuracy. Operating gaps are up to 0.34 mm (S1A) and up to 2.0 mm (S1B).
