On Par for Golf Analysis

February 1, 2006 By: Barbara G. Goode, Sensors Sensors

IInterSense, Inc.'s inertial motion tracking technology is at the root of Bentley Kinetics' K-System golf swing-analysis and training system. "We have combined our extensive professional golf training experience with our expertise in biomechanical sports analysis to create the most accurate and objective wireless coaching system in the world," says Michael Bentley, Bentley Kinetics' CTO.

The system measures the golfer's hip, shoulder, and hand motion during a golf swing, at 120 frames per second, using three Wireless InertiaCube sensors, which InterSense optimized for the K-System. Each sensor sends its data wirelessly to Bentley's Kinesync software, which delivers a 3D swing profile in real-time on a wireless laptop. (www.bentleykinetics.com, www.intersense.com)
