Sunovia, EPIR Technologies Finalize Partnership

January 31, 2008

Sunovia Energy Technologies and EPIR will collaborate to develop advanced solar photovoltaic technologies and alternative materials to the glass encapsulant used today.

SARASOTA, FL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sunovia Energy Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:SUNV) (hereinafter "Sunovia") and EPIR Technologies Inc. (hereinafter "EPIR") are pleased to announce the finalization of an exclusive marketing, supply and development partnership for advanced solar photovoltaic ("PV") and encapsulate technologies that leverage more than 20 years of experience in the development of advanced light detection devices and extensive expertise in what is commonly referred to as II-VI materials. These II-VI materials are uniquely combined to form the semiconductors that are used in solar PV technologies. The partnership also provides for the commercialization of advanced light detection technologies which will form a foundation for accelerating advanced PV development that is aimed at reducing the overall cost of energy from a solar PV system. The advanced light detection technologies were originally developed by EPIR for missile defense and Air Force Space systems. EPIR continues to provide such technology to the US Department of Defense.

Sunovia and EPIR are developing a solar PV encapsulate that eliminates the need for glass encapsulates that are prevalent in today's market. A number of system considerations, including weight and rigidity, make glass an impractical long term system solution for solar encapsulations within the renewable energy market. EPIR and Sunovia are pleased to announce that the initial contract for the development of these new solar technologies has been entered with the United States Air Force. The United States Air Force is interested in utilizing the technologies within their space programs. The Phase I proof of concept has been successfully completed, and an invitation for Phase II has been received. The technologies being developed for the US Air Force will allow our partnership with EPIR to accelerate the commercialization of our terrestrial solar products.

We believe that the partnership between Sunovia and EPIR will allow us to be at the forefront of technology development and that we are positioned to capture market share within the growing renewable energy market.

The President of Sunovia Energy Technologies Inc., Mr. Bob Fugerer stated, "We are very pleased to be working with EPIR Technologies, Inc. Their extensive expertise with II-VI semiconductor materials and fabrication processes has been demonstrated within the infrared and sensors community for many years. We believe that our partnership will further accelerate, through EPIR's proven expertise and experience, the development of solar PV technologies and products for many years into the future."

Dr. Sivalingam Sivananthan, EPIR Technologies, Inc.'s founder and President, added, "We are very pleased to be working with such a tremendously talented group of people. The technical expertise, the vision and the passion of virtually the entire Sunovia team made my decision to move forward with this partnership much easier. It became obvious to me that this was a company that I wanted to be in business with."

About Sunovia Energy Technologies Inc.
Sunovia is a renewable energy and energy conservation company that is based out of Sarasota, FL. The company is the owner of the proprietary Solartizement and Evolucia technologies, and is working to commercialize next generation photovoltaic solar cells and encapsulates for markets including, but not limited to, residential utility, commercial utility, general lighting, advertising, governmental and space.

About EPIR Technologies Inc.
EPIR Technologies Inc. is a high technology company that was founded in 1998 by Dr. Siva Sivananthan, director of Microphysics Laboratory (MPL), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). EPIR develops infrared materials for the US military and research support for the defense industry in Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) infrared imaging technology.

The products and services that EPIR continues to develop for the infrared materials, detectors, detector arrays and IR sensor and imaging industry is at the forefront of the industry. EPIR's distribution channels had primarily been within the IR military markets, however, over the past several years, new and emerging markets within both the civilian and military sectors have shown significant growth.

EPIR believes it will be able to develop new products in IR materials that are mercury cadmium telluride based and provide much needed components for major defense contractors and commercial manufacturers alike to produce IR sensors and imagers. EPIR has demonstrated several product concepts through cutting edge research under numerous Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and other military, state and federal governmental contracts.
