October 13, 2006

The company continues to seek legal remedies for the remaining two patents and is considering adding additional patents to its case.

SEOUL, South Korea /PRNewswire/ -- MagnaChip Semiconductor clarified the status of its patent infringement lawsuit against Pixelplus. While MagnaChip has withdrawn claims involving two of the four patents cited in its original lawsuit, MagnaChip continues to vigorously pursue all legal remedies for the remaining 2 patents in Seoul Central District Court against Pixelplus, and is considering adding additional patents to its case.

MagnaChip Semiconductor, Ltd., the company's Korean operating company, originally filed a lawsuit on April 3, 2006, in Seoul Central District Court against Pixelplus Co., Ltd., a Korean company headquartered in the Seoul metropolitan area, for infringement of four Korean patents owned by MagnaChip. The original lawsuit was seeking approximately $12 million in damages, plus interest, and requests an injunction against further infringement. The patents cited relate to image sensor technology developed by MagnaChip and alleged to be incorporated into the manufacturing processes for Pixelplus products.
