IT Network System Tracks Physical Layer Changes

January 21, 2008

Siemon's MapIT intelligent infrastructure system allows IT managers to track changes to their networks, providing location information for any connected device.

WATERTOWN, CT /PRNewswire/ -- Siemon, a leader in network cabling solutions, introduces a 10G 6A F/UTP version of its popular MapIT intelligent infrastructure management solution.

Launched in 2005, Siemon's end-to-end MapIT solution was designed to help IT professionals manage their networks, improve documentation, enhance security, improve productivity, and reduce downtime. The system uses a combination of software and sensor-enabled connecting hardware to track any changes made to the physical layer and provides location information for any IP enabled device connected to the network. The MapIT solution also features comprehensive network documentation tools, simplifying both regulatory compliance and troubleshooting.

Siemon's 10G 6A F/UTP MapIT system meets or exceeds all channel requirements dictated by the IEEE 802.3an standard. The end-to-end 10Gb/s solution consists of a smaller diameter F/UTP cable and screened tool-less MAX modules as well as sensor-enabled MapIT patch panels and screened 10G 6A MC patch cords. The system is supported by multiple work area faceplates and surface mount options in addition to a full suite of Siemon datacenter/telecom room rack and cable management products. Like all Siemon solutions, 10G 6A F/UTP MapIT carries an inclusive 20 year system warranty when installed by a Siemon Certified Installer.

"The integration of MapIT into a high-performance category 6A screened cabling solution is a natural step," explained Robert Carlson, Siemon's VP of Global Marketing. "The same growing user base that demands the performance headroom and crosstalk resistance of a screened 10Gb/s cabling solution typically understands the network management efficiencies and security benefits of a robust intelligent patching solution."

For more information on Siemon's full line of MapIT solutions, including 10Gb/s category 6A solutions in both F/UTP and UTP configurations, category 6 UTP and 10Gb/s optical fiber cabling, please visit the Siemon Web site.
