Intelligent Sensors for Weighing Applications

Sensor System Solutions' CTO to speak at the National Industrial Scale Association Spring Conference on the benefits of using intelligent digital signal conditioners.

IRVINE, Calif. /MARKET WIRE/ -- Sensor System Solutions, Inc., a manufacturer of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors, intelligent sensor interface electronics, and intelligent embedded control systems, announced that its chief technology officer, Hank McCarrick, will address the 19th Annual Spring Technical Conference of the National Industrial Scale Association, to be held on April 24-25 at Harrah's Casino and Hotel in Omaha, Neb.

Mr. McCarrick will speak on the benefits of using intelligent digital signal conditioners in weighing applications. In addition, he will cover the advantages of using modern wired and wireless electronic devices for calibrating scales and performing system testing and diagnostics for a wide variety of uses including: agricultural hopper scale applications, bulk powder dispensing, railway car uses, cargo crane scales, cattle-weighing requirements, storage tank purposes, and forklift weighing functions. He will further demonstrate the use of a Bluetooth-enabled PDA and PC in managing typical scale routines—such as trimming, summing, simulation, zeroing, tare, calibration of multiple load cells—and explain how these systems can be substantial time savers that deliver highly accurate results.

"Digital signal conditioners provide significant benefits over analog devices," said McCarrick. "Once you digitize a sensor signal, there is a lot more that can be done with it that just isn't possible through straight analog technology. Sensor linearization, automatic calibration routines, diagnostics, even remote sensing are all possible when sensors are interfaced to digital signal conditioners. The bottom line is, not only can sensor measurement be made more reliable, the acts of calibration, troubleshooting, and data distribution are tremendously simplified."

McCarrick added, "The ability to handle multiple sensor inputs is where digital signal conditioners excel. These multi-input devices are perfect solutions for truck scales, rail scales, hopper scales—really any scale that has a collection of load cells that must be matched and summed.
