GE Fanuc Proficy Wins Plant Engineering Award

April 25, 2007

GE Fanuc's Proficy Plant Applications v4.3 wins Plant Engineering's Product of the Year award.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, -- GE Fanuc Automation, a unit of GE Industrial, announced that its Production Management solution, Proficy Plant Applications 4.3, has been awarded the prestigious Product of the Year award from Plant Engineering magazine.

Proficy Plant Applications v4.3 focuses on efficiency, quality, production execution, genealogy and batch analysis to enable visibility across process, discrete and hybrid environments. With Proficy Plant Applications, companies can gain clear insight into their operations to efficiently manage to peak performance. This new version is designed to help users deploy production management systems faster and easily expand existing systems to tackle business challenges—increasing quality, throughput and compliance while decreasing cost, time to value and risk.

Proficy Plant Applications digitizes the real-time information generated throughout a production facility into a "virtual plant" that can be accessed where, when, and how users need it. It allows plant management to measure and monitor performance across key criteria in real time, gaining clear insight into production and greatly improving operational effectiveness.

"We are very pleased to receive this prestigious honor," said John Dyck, Global Director of Production Management Software for GE Fanuc Automation. "Globally, Proficy Plant Applications is deployed broadly across many industries—in companies large and small. These companies demand faster time to value, reduced total cost of ownership, and ease of expandability because of the importance of these systems in their business. The features incorporated into the version 4.3 release directly address these needs."

The Product Of The Year awards were presented at the Plant Engineering Management Summit in Chicago, April 2, 2007 and mark continuing recognition for exceptional GE Fanuc products. PACSystems controllers and Proficy Change Management software are among the GE Fanuc Product of the Year award winners in previous years.

"The Plant Engineering Product Of The Year awards are the premier honor for new products in the manufacturing industry today," said Bob Vavra, editor of Plant Engineering. "We are very excited about the caliber of products that were entered in the competition and believe that some great solutions have been recognized for their excellence in the industry."
