Cantronic Receives Orders for FeverScan Cameras

May 5, 2009

The M3000D thermal-imaging systems will be used for swine flu screening by the Mexican, U.S., and other governments and corporate customers in airports, hotels, and other public spaces.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA /Marketwire/ -- Cantronic Systems Inc., is pleased to announce sales orders for approximately 20 units of its state-of-the-art FeverScan M3000D dual-vision thermal-imaging camera system for swine (H1N1) flu screening. The overwhelming response for these thermal scanners is a direct result of Cantronic's announcement that the Salvadoran government had installed the FeverScan MD3000D at the San Salvador Comalapa International Airport in its effort to combat the possible spread of the swine (H1N1) flu. Cantronic has received orders from Mexico, the U.S., and a number of other governments and corporate customers for the use of the scanning system in airports, major hotels, resorts and other public spaces.

The FeverScan M3000D system works by reading the facial temperature of people within its view. It is a noninvasive mass screening tool that health officials can use to identify people who need closer examinations. Individuals with elevated body temperatures above a predefined value, such as in the case of a fever, can be visually identified and then further assessed by health personnel.

Fever scanning systems were first implemented for use at airports during the 2003 SARS outbreak, and demand for this type of thermal screening has increased.

"We are pleased to be able to assist governments and businesses with our product in an effort to contain an extremely serious infectious disease," noted James Zahn, Cantronic's President and CEO. "Based on our earlier announcement and our track record in providing thermal scanners for fever detection during the 2003 SARS outbreak, we have received calls from all over the world. The number of inquiries and product orders during the past few days is a testament to the quality and reliability of our FeverScan thermal imaging camera system."
