Augusta Systems Receives Investment from PrairieGold

March 29, 2007

Series B Funding will spur further growth for Augusta Systems and its SensorBridge and SensorPort products.

MORGANTOWN, WV /PRNewswire/ -- Augusta Systems Inc. and PrairieGold Venture Partners announced that PrairieGold has made an undisclosed Series B investment in Augusta Systems. The funding will allow Augusta Systems to continue its growth as a leading provider of technologies for rapid integration, intelligent processing and enterprise utilization of sensor data.

"PrairieGold Venture Partners believes that Augusta Systems and its products are addressing a critical need for enterprises that rely on data from sensors, actuators, devices and systems," said Paul Batcheller, a principal at Prairie Gold. "There is a sizable market opportunity for Augusta Systems because the company addresses significant challenges that most enterprises take for granted—the inefficiencies and costs involved in integrating data from disparate sensors, actuators and systems into enterprise networks and in developing distributed, intelligent information infrastructures. We look forward to working with Augusta Systems to pursue this significant opportunity."

Augusta Systems SensorBridge and SensorPort products extend enterprise networks to the level of sensors and sensor networks. SensorBridge is a suite of software components for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 that enables rapid integration, intelligent processing and enterprise utilization of sensor data within an integrated development environment. SensorPort is a reconfigurable sensor network appliance for distributed, intelligent processing at the edge of the network. These technologies enable the most efficient and effective convergence and use of sensor data in numerous applications, including security, monitoring, automation and asset tracking, among others.

"Our products help enterprises to connect sensor data to the network and advance a distributed, intelligent network infrastructure. SensorBridge provides an innovative suite of software components, while SensorPort provides the hardware and embedded software to support intelligent applications within the network. Used together or separately, our products can overcome integration and connectivity hurdles that exist for enterprises that plan to reap the benefits of sensor, actuator and other device deployments," said Patrick Esposito II, president and chief operating officer of Augusta Systems.

"With the funding from PrairieGold, we will aggressively pursue our marketing and sales goals, including continuing to establish relationships with network infrastructure companies, IT solutions providers, system integrators and OEMs. This funding will also help us to accelerate growth plans in key verticals, including automation and security," Esposito said.
