Micro-Hybrid has developed a high temperature gas measurement module that can operate up to 190°C. The module is based on the NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) principle.
Special infrared components were developed by Micro-hybrid to withstand the 190°C environment:
- 2 channel thermopile detector contains two thermopile chips with IR narrow bandpass filters one for CO2 (or other gases) and one for the reference channel.
- A special infrared source was developed for working at high ambient temperatures.
- Measurement chamber with the IR source and thermopile detector inside.
- The measurement chamber (in the hot environment) is connected to external electronics mounted away from the heat.
The gas to be investigated fills the measurement chamber. Infrared radiation delivered by the source passes through the gas and generates a signal voltage in the thermopile infrared detector. The detector has a narrow band filter with the passband that is the same as the wavelength absorbed by the gas to be detected. In this way the presence of the target gas inside the chamber causes a drop of the output signal of the detector. This drop is directly related to the gas concentration present, so you can determine it’s concentration.
The Micro-Hybrid high temperature module can be used for gas analysis in applications including: Medical, Refinery, Mining, Automotive and Semiconductor Instrumentation.
