Understanding Inductive Displacement Sensor Thumb Rules

This session will review the various rules of thumb for selection and installation of inductive 'eddy current' sensors. We will use computer modeling to explain their quantitative and qualitative basis and present computer-modeled data that includes results from real-world applications.
- Learn the thumb rules used for selecting and implementing inductive sensor technology
- Learn how breaking a thumb rule will affect the sensor's performance in a given application
- Learn that although breaking a thumb rule can negatively affect sensor performance, it doesn't preclude using inductive sensors for a given application
- Learn that computer modeling is a valuable tool for quantifying the varying conditions that are encountered when applying any sensor technology
