S@W2: An Open Source Hardware and Software Approach to Geospatial Sensor Networks
June 25, 2014 | 11:10am - 11:50am
This session features case studies on the implementation of a climate near-real-time sensing network in Barrow, Alaska and a network for monitoring stormwater runoff in Cincinnati, Ohio. Attendees will also be introduced to a wiki of sensor networking best practices assembled by leading scientists.
Attendees will learn:
- The challenges of integration of the Sensor Web Enablement international standards and the Web of Things.
- The difficulties of creating end-to-end sensor networks using modular architectures and the potential of open source software.
- About an excellent online resource for understanding the difficulties and best practices for sensor network implementations within academia.
