Smart Sensor Technology To Combat Counterfeiting

Counterfeit goods are a rampant global problem costing companies billions of dollars in lost revenue. Product labels with embedded memory – printable in huge volumes at low costs – can help thwart counterfeiting by using built-in electronic signatures that are impossible to replicate. Retailers can touch a handheld reader to a custom-designed memory label embedded with smart sensing technology, and verify the product’s authenticity before putting it on their shelves. These labels protect the manufacturers’ brands while putting makers and distributors of counterfeit goods on notice. They are part of a suite of products that use printed electronics for sensing applications.
