Sensor Needs for Smarter Buildings
June 5, 2013 | 1:50pm - 2:30pm
The buildings market sector has pressing needs for new and better sensors to increase energy efficiency and to integrate the buildings with the emerging Smart Grid. An example of an innovative sensor system that allows us to cost-effectively commission existing small commercial buildings and to automatically identifying opportunities for improving their energy efficiency will be presented.
In this session, attendees will learn about:
The sensor needs of the buildings market sector to substantially increase energy efficiency and sustainability while becoming an integral part of the emerging smart electric power grid
A specific sensor/software system designed to support the unique data collection needs involved in cost-effective commissioning of existing small commercial buildings
The algorithms and software used to automatically extract information about the operating condition of building systems and develop recommendations for improvements that require very little user input
The sensor and communications technology used in the sensor system for commissioning existing small commercial buildings cost-effectively
