The GS1500M high-performance 802.11 b/g/n WiFi module from GainSpan Corp., San Jose, CA, is designed for embedded devices that require next-generation WiFi connectivity services, such as security cameras, home appliances, and industrial control systems. Features include feature-set and pin-to-pin compatibility with the GS1011M; built-in or external antenna options; support for the Wi-Fi Direct standard for peer-to-peer networking; Wi-Fi Protected Set Up, Web-server-based ad hoc, and Access Point provisioning modes; a 18 dBm transmit power; extensive low power modes; and multiple firmware configurations of the embedded networking software stack. It lets you add WiFi connectivity to standard 8–32 bit microcontrollers and is intended for plug-and-play integration of WiFi into embedded platforms using SPI or UART interfaces.
