The Fluke 805 vibration meter from Davis Instruments, Vernon Hills, IL, is a handheld scanning meter that can be used by frontline mechanical troubleshooting teams who need repeatable, severity-scaled readings of overall vibration and bearing condition. The meter has a sensor and sensor tip design that minimizes measurement variations caused by device angle or contact pressure. It provides a 10 Hz to 1000 Hz overall vibration measurement range for acceleration, velocity, and displacement and its Crest Factor+ reading for reliable bearing assignment uses direct sensor tip measurements between 4000–20,000 Hz. Other features include a four-level severity scale, exportable data via USB, onboard memory for 3500 measurements, colored lighting system and onscreen comments to indicate the amount of pressure to apply to take measurements, and a Spot IR sensor for noncontact temperature measurement.
