Perpetuum Ltd., Austin, TX, offers PMG RAIL vibration energy harvesters designed to convert vibration into usable power for monitoring and wireless data transmission on passenger trains and freight wagons. The harvesters can be tailored to provide power for bearing monitoring, GPS location tracking, hazardous cargo monitoring, wheel condition monitoring, derailment, and braking system monitoring. They can also be used to power low-power 802.15.4 wireless networks on vehicles and along trains, low-power 802.11 networks, GPRS/GSM/GSM-R wireless communications, and intermittent satcoms.
