The Harvestor-III from Advanced Cerametrics Inc. (ACI), Lambertville, NJ, captures mechanical vibration energy from the environment to provide perpetual electric power for microcircuit applications. The devices use the company's piezoelectric fiber composites and pair them with its EH1000 energy management circuitry to power sensors, wireless transponders, and other low-power applications. Models are available with center frequencies of 30, 60, 120, and 220 Hz. The device offers a broad frequency response around resonance for both high- and low-frequency vibrations. Harvestors can provide a 3 or 3.3 VDC continuous voltage output to replace or augment battery power.
