Data Translation’s DT9829, a USB-based sensor module, supports numerous sensor types including thermocouples, RTDS, and thermistors. Any sensor connects at an input and all selections, including any necessary for excitation, cold junction compensation or bridge completion, are included and supported. No other circuitry or external components are necessary. Essentially, the module can measure up to eight different sensors on any of the module’s eight channels with no interaction from one to another. The module samples at 960 Hz, utilizes a 24-bit sigma-delta ADC to eliminate aliasing, and provides four isolated digital inputs and four open-collector digital outputs. Software support includes drivers, and interface tools for LabVIEW and MATLAB programmers. The DT9829 is available with two, four, or eight analog inputs with prices starting at $895.
