The FT-LD system from Flow Technology Inc., Tempe, AZ, is a turbine flowmeter system that provides inferred mass measurements for leakage detection by correcting for temperature effects on fluid volume. The system combines the FT series turbine flowmeter with the LinearLink temperature compensated interface. For leakage measurement, the flowmeters are installed in series on a test stand fixture with the inlet meter downstream of the device under test and the outlet meter positioned upstream. When the system is pressurized with the application fluid, the DUT is run through to evaluate its overall performance. Applications include leakage measurements for engine oil, transmission oil, and hydraulic fluid.
