The BFS 33M from Balluff Inc., Florence, KY, is a true color sensor that uses the lab color space to distinguish between different color shades. Sensing range is up to 400 mm. Features include fiber-optic cable-based optics; 7 channels and 3 digital outputs for set-point detection; a serial interface for configuration and to output color data; ability to be mounted in tight spaces; simple configuration and visualization using software; 1.5 kHz switching frequency; and a rugged aluminum sensor housing. Applications include robotics, automated assembly, packaging, or wood processing.
