The Type 8688A Series from Kistler Instrument Corp., Amherst, NY, consists of high-sensitivity IEPE triaxial accelerometers (TEDS optional) designed to simultaneously measure vibration in three orthogonal axes. Ranges are ±5 g, ±10 g, or ±50 g with 100, 500, or 1000 mV/g sensitivities. The sensors incorporate the company's PiezoBeam technology that uses an integral ceramic cantilevered beam enclosed in a lightweight welded titanium housing. An integral low-noise charge amplifier converts the charge signal to a proportional high-level voltage output with <500 ohm output impedance.
