HBM Inc., Marlborough, MA, introduces T40B and T40FM torque transducers that include an integrated speed measurement system, and are used in harsh environments including humidity, condensation, dust, oil, and grease. These models measurements based on the contactless sensing of an anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) sensor; the transducer signal is more robust and stable than that of an optical system. The transducer integrates both the magnetic technology and the speed measurement sensor, saving space and making installation easier. A speed measurement sensor lets the device measure both torque and speed (rpm) at the same time and measures speed with 1024 pulse output. Features include torque measuring ranges of up to 80,000 N-m; up to 0.03% F.S. linearity and hysteresis combined; and standard response times of 1000, 3000, 6000, and 10,000 Hz options.
