The Type 4550A KiTorq system from Kistler North America, Novi, MI, is a rotor torque flange measuring unit with an accuracy class of 0.05. The system combines the bearing- and slip-ring-free Type 455x KiTorq rotary torque measuring unit and the Type 454x KiTorq stator torque evaluation unit; the stator automatically detects a change in the rotor and then automatically sets the required measurement parameters. The rotors capture torque using strain gauges, and their generated signal is amplified and processed at ~35 Ksps. Applications include high-precision dynamic torque measurements in test bench engineering, including those for electric motors, gears, pumps, and combustion engine test stands.
